For sale here is a very rare 6'9" Gillum trout rod. 2-piece configuration with 3 tips. Two tips appear original, with one of the original tips having some large resorcinol glue lines between the top snake guide and the tip top. After looking this rod over carefully, I believe this original tip experienced a split/delamination and was glued back together in-situ, and the 3rd tip was probably made at the same time as the repair. It's very difficult to say for sure, but the original rod sections appear to be unmolested except for the tip repair. Medium flamed bamboo with black windings and white accents at the ferrules. Blued Super-Z ferrules fit perfectly, and the original tips are pinned on the male slides. All sections are straight & serialized (I-803). 5.5" cork grip is smooth and clean although one of the middle cork rings has some light imprints from adjacent snake guides in the bag. Down-locking aluminum reel seat with nicely figured African mahogany spacer. The pocketed butt cap retains the Gillum stamp. Weight is 3.42oz. Crisp dry fly action, on the faster side of medium fast. Best with a DT5, although some may like it with a 4wt line. A nimble small stream wand and a rarely seen length from Mr. Gillum. Sold in the original 3-compartment bag and brass capped tube with 95% label. A rare opportunity to own a shorter, light-line Gillum.
