Carlson, C.W. - 6'6" 2/4 4wt Quad Bamboo Rod

For sale here is a 6'6" 2-piece / 4-tip 4wt quad bamboo rod made by C.W. "Sam" Carlson. Medium flamed cane with dark snake guides and red agate stripping guide. Wraps are light brown with gold & black tipping. All sections are straight and full length, and the 11/64 ferrules fit perfectly. The butt section is scripted with the original owner's name, "Thomas Four", and the serial number (#61212-4652, made in 1962). U-shaped hook keeper and 6" modified wells grip with cork reel seat spacer. All the cork shows a high degree of soiling but remains quite smooth. Squared walnut winding check and walnut inset at the butt cap, along with a Pakkawood insert on the back of the reel seat spacer to protect the cork, unusual and deluxe additions to this special rod. 2 of the 4 tips have slightly different tip-tops, although it’s hard to say if the rod was delivered with 4 tips or if 2 were made later. Either way, all the work is Mr. Carlson's. The stripping guide was re-wrapped. The rod has seen some use, evidenced by the cork soiling, minor bluing loss to the reel seat hardware and a few very small nicks/scratches to the varnish, but overall, this is a very fine example of a rare 6'6" Carlson. The fine wood accents and extra tips make this a truly deluxe find. The rod is sold in the original bag with provisions for all 4 tips and the standard Carlson brass capped tube.
