Brandin, Per - Model 805-3df, 8' 3/2 5wt Hollowbuilt Quad Bamboo Rod

For sale here is an 805-3df, 8' 3-piece / 2-tip 5wt hollowbuilt quad bamboo rod from the bench of Per Brandin. This is a demo rod made in 2010 and marked as such on the tube. Built with two different tip tapers, a "light" and a "heavy". The rod features medium flamed cane with lightly oxidized snake guides and red agate stripping guide, wrapped in pale green silks with dark accents. Each section is straight & full length, and the ferrules fit perfectly. Stated weight is 3 1/2 oz, but it's just a hair heavier (3.60oz) on my scale. The tips are marked for ease of rotation (2 wraps/dots on the heavy, 1 on the light). All cork "skeleton" grip & reel seat with pocketed cap & ring hardware. The cork is made up of alternating 1/4" & 1/2" rings and is slightly soiled but smooth. The butt cap has some bluing loss to the edges. The butt section has a small crack just above a node, about 4" below the stripping guide. It has been covered by an invisible wrap for many years, and this rod has long been a trusty "demo" stick for Per. Medium action with a semi-parabolic feel. Subtle differences between the light and heavy tips, the heavy tip seems to handle the heavier modern WF5 lines with a bit more authority. A fantastic all-around trout taper. Sold in the original bag and tube with data decal and canvas tube protector. From the collection of Per G. Brandin.
