Yerxa Rod (Kevin Gerig) - 9'6" 2/2 8wt Bamboo Rod

For sale here is a 9'6" 2/2 8wt Yerxa bamboo rod. Max Yerxa's shop was recently purchased by Kevin Gerig and this rod was finished out from a blank found in the shop. New condition with the paper on the grip. Medium toned cane with 2-opposed nodes and bright guides. Gold windings with matching intermediate wraps, in the E.C. Powell tradition. Bright Super-Z ferrules fit perfectly and are marked for ease of alignment. The sections are full length & straight. The butt is marked "Yerxa Rod - Colusa CA". 6.25" cork grip, all aluminum reel seat and dark wood spacer. Weight is 6.46oz (includes the grip paper). Best with an 8wt line or equivalent shooting head. It has the butt flexing/tip resisting feel of an EC Powell C-taper, designed for single hand steelhead fishing. Max Yerxa made rods in the E.C. Powell tradition. His uncle "Wood" Yerxa worked for E.C. in Marysville CA, and Max's rods were made using the same semi-hollow construction using laminated strips of Port Orford cedar. Sold in the original 2-compartment bag and tube.
