For sale here is a fantastic 8' F.E. Thomas Mahogany bamboo rod in very good original condition. 3-piece / 2-tips, the cane is finished in a rich mahogany color and the rod features right hand twist guides with two-tone agate stripper, wrapped in chocolate brown windings. All sections are straight and full length. There is a faint tick in the butt ferrule, though the metal-to-metal fit is perfect. The ferrules are pinned, and the rod can be confidently fished as-is. There is a ~0.5" invisible wrap below the top snake guide on one of the tips, but otherwise the rod is in excellent original condition throughout. The varnish remains in great shape, with only minor signs of use. Skeleton grip and reel seat, the cork is soiled but smooth. Nickel silver reel seat hardware remains quite dark, and the pocketed butt cap has the F.E. Thomas stamp in cartouche. The bottom of the butt cap has a "30" in bullseye. Stated and actual weight is 3 7/8 oz. A very pleasant 3/4wt with delicate dry fly tips, the action is medium fast. a gorgeous example of the rare FET Mahogany, and it's a phenomenal caster.
