For sale here is a Bob Summers model 856, 8' 2-piece / 2-tip, 5-6wt bamboo rod in mint condition. Darkly flamed cane with dark snake guides and high-bridge carbide stripping guide. Wraps are transparent brown and the tips are wrapped for ease of rotation. Blued Super-Z ferrules fit perfectly, and all sections are straight, full length & serialized (#101178). Bent loop hook keeper, 6.5" cork grip (bright and smooth), and screw-lock reel seat over fine wood spacer. The rod has been lawn cast but remains in as-new condition. Strong and smooth parabolic action, it flexes down to the grip and casts a WF5 or DT6. The Model 856 is one of Summers' most celebrated tapers, and this is a particularly nice one. Sold in original bag and Champion-style tube. This item comes from Dean Malencik’s generous donation of vintage rods & reels to Trout Unlimited.
