For sale here is an early Scott yellow glass 8' 4pc 5wt fly rod in very good used condition. Built on a sanded yellow blank with bright snake guides and dark gold wraps. Spigot ferrules fit well, although the sections are just about touching with the tip section and the butt section (the mid-to-mid ferrule still has a small gap. A few of the guide wraps have small cracks forming, and a few may benefit from a light touch up. The butt section is marked "Scott Powr-Ply", and the serial number is #480-1421. 7" cork grip is clean and smooth, and the rod is fitted with a gold up-locking reel seat with Scott's unique cork locking nut. Weight is just a hair over 4oz, and the rod has a very pleasant medium, fiberglass action (I like a WF5). Opposite the rod data on the butt is inscribed "San Jose Flycasters". Harry Wilson was involved with the San Jose Flycasters for many years and donated a few rods to the club back in the 1970's This rod was the big raffle prize at a club event, and it comes with a letter from the original prize winner. A very fishable rod, and a neat piece of history to boot! Sold in the original bag and tube with 90% gold data label. The plastic cap is tethered with a bead chain, and the plastic is cracked in the usual manner.
