For sale here is an 8'6" 2/2 6wt hollow built E.C. Powell rod in excellent condition. This appears to be a transitional rod made in the 1950's when E.C. and his son in law Tony Maslan were working together in the shop. Medium tempered cane with bright guides and carbide stripper, wrapped in gold windings with signature black & cream accent at the hook keeper indicating a hollow built rod. All sections are straight and full length. Ferrules fit perfectly and are witness marked for ease of alignment. All the wraps look original except one of the tip tops has replacement wraps. Patent date is scripted on the butt above the diminutive snake guide hook keeper. 6.5" cork grip is clean & smooth, and the rod is fitted with the standard EC Powell up-locking reel seat with Marysville stamp on the interrupted threads. Weight is 4.37oz. A pleasant medium fast action 6wt, I prefer it with a WF6. I mic'd this rod and it is a B-taper by measurement and by feel. Sold in the original bag and brass capped tube, sans label.
