Phillipson - Premium 8'6" 3/2 6wt Bamboo Rod

For sale here is a Phillipson Premium 8'6" 3/2 6wt "Dry Fly Special" bamboo rod in excellent+ original condition. Darkly ammoniated cane with black windings & gold accents. Bright guides still have varnish in them; the rod has been lawn cast but it looks much the same it did on the day it was delivered. Elliptical "hammer handle" with black anodized aluminum reel seat. The script above the handle bears the original owner's name and "51". The 51 has special meaning: Agnes Marshall, a Granger Rods board member, reportedly told Bill Phillipson “You won't last 5 years" when he struck out on his own. All Phillipson rods from 1951 have "51" inked on the butt, a special tribute to Mrs. Marshall's choice words! Scripted & actual weight is this rod is 5 1/2oz. Action on the medium side of medium fast, a strong 6wt designed for dry fly fishing on western trout streams. The Premium was the highest-grade Phillipson rod, made to compete with the W&M/Granger Registered rods. This one is in amazing condition, lawn cast only.
