Payne - Model 97, 7' 2/2 4wt Bamboo Rod

For sale here is a Payne model 97, 7' 2/2 4wt bamboo rod in excellent used condition. Mostly original, although the ferrules were recently reset & rewrapped, along with the associated snake guide on the butt. Medium toned cane with dark brown windings and gold tipping. The red agate stripping guide also looks like it was rewrapped at some point. All sections are straight and full length, and the varnish is in good shape with a few small chips/checks in places. Strap & ring hook keeper, 5" cork grip (smooth with light soiling), and blued cap & ring reel seat over walnut spacer. The hardware has some bluing loss, mostly on the slide band, and the butt cap retains the Payne roll stamp. Weight is 2.75oz. No hangtag, but it's almost certainly a 97. Medium, full flexing action, best with a DT4. A fine light line Payne 2pc rod, ready to fish or collect. Sold in the original bag (the hang tag rivet is intact), and brass capped tube with silver/blue Payne label.
