Payne - Model 202, 8' 3/2, 5-6wt Bamboo Rod

For sale here is a spectacular Payne 202 in excellent+ original condition. 8' 3-piece / 2-tip, crisp medium fast action, best with a 5 or 6wt line. Deeply toned cane with chestnut brown wraps and gold tipping, dark snake guides and red agate stripping guide. The varnish and ferrule bluing are superb. Ferrules fit perfectly and all sections are full length & straight. Strap & ring hook keeper, 6" cork grip (smooth with light soiling), and up-locking reel seat over Spanish cedar spacer. The screw collar has the Payne logo on one side, "Sold by Abercrombie & Fitch" on the opposite, and the name "COLE" jeweler engraved between the stamps. Scripted and actual weight is 4 3/4oz. I have only two condition notes: the windings closest to the butt ferrule have 2 or 3 broken threads right at the guide foot, and there is a small varnish chip on the stripping guide windings. The next owner may wish to apply a bit of stabilizing varnish. Otherwise, this is an excellent original example of the desirable 202 taper. Sold in the original bag with hangtag and brass capped tube with 95% red A&F label.
