Payne - 8' 3/2 5wt Bamboo Rod

For sale here is a Payne 8' 3-piece / 2-tip bamboo rod in excellent restored condition. The restored weight is 4.18oz, there is no hangtag present but it's probably a model 201 or maybe a 202. Medium toned cane with modern snake guides and Perfection stripping guide. Wraps are color preserved chestnut brown with gold tipping and purple accents. All sections are straight and full length, and the ferrules fit perfectly (10/64 & 15/64). Both tips are reportedly replacements. Strap & ring hook keeper, nickel silver winding check and 6" cork grip. The cork was replaced when the restoration was performed and remains smooth with light soiling. Blued cap & ring reel seat over Spanish cedar spacer. The butt cap retains the Payne stamp on one side and "Sold by Abercrombie & Fitch" on the opposite. A fine Payne trout rod, and the restoration work is very clean. Action on the medium side of medium fast, I think it's best with a WF or DT5. Sold in the proper poplin bag and brass capped tube with replacement Payne label. All that remains of the hangtag is a rivet on a string.
