Payne - 6' 2/2 3wt Bamboo Rod (model 95)

For sale here is a scarce 6' Payne, 2-piece / 2-tip bamboo rod in very good restored condition. It can safely be assumed that this is a Model 95. Restored by Steve Blake, one tip is a replacement (Chapman), and the rest of the rod received a quality restoration/refresh. Some of the wraps are replacements, most of the varnish is intact but has been buffed/filled in places. Medium toned cane with dark snake guides and red agate stripping guide. Chestnut silk windings with gold tipping. 8/64 ferrules nicely. All sections are full length, and the tips both have faint sets. Diminutive 4.25" grip (smooth with light soiling), and cap & ring reel seat over Spanish cedar spacer. The butt cap retains the Payne stamping, and retailers stamp is on the reverse (Folsom Arms, NY). Weight is 1.71oz. A dainty, medium action 3wt in the Catskill tradition. Sold in what appears to be the original bag and tube, although the bag is about 2" shorter than the rod sections. All that remains of the hangtag are the tether and rivet.
