For sale here is a Paul Young Midge, 6'3" 2/2 4wt bamboo rod in very good original condition. Serial #4314, made by Bob Summers in 1966. Medium flamed cane with dark snake guides and carbide stripping guide wrapped in antique gold windings. All sections are straight, full length & serialized. Truncated Super-Z ferrules are blued and the fits are perfect. The butt is inked Bob Summers' hand "A Paul H Young Co. Rod - Midge 6'3" 1 3/4oz". Skeleton grip & reel seat with dual slide bands. The cork is clean with light ridging. The only condition note I have is some of the silk windings are showing their age and most have small cracks in the varnish over the wraps. The guides are snug and the wraps are secure, but a light overcoat wouldn't be out of line. Weight is 2.08oz. Medium fast action with subtle parabolic character that becomes more evident with longer casts. A fine original PHY Midge made by Bob Summers. Sold in the original burnt orange satin bag with brown piping and Champion tube with 30% of the original decal intact.
