For sale here is an Orvis Shooting Star 8'6" 2/3 9wt bamboo rod. Very good used condition, the 3rd tip is a later addition by Orvis, and one of the original tips has 2 invisible wraps (just below the tip top and just below the first guide). Transparent brown windings, a slightly different shade on the 3rd tip, and bright oversized guides. All sections are full length & straight, and the 16/64 ferrules fit perfectly. Serial #17274, made in April of 1955. The handle cork and fighting butt are clean & smooth, and the bright aluminum reel seat has an old line sticker on it. Weight is 6.70oz. A heavy-duty saltwater/salmon rod from Orvis, I cast it with a modern 9wt saltwater line and it's a cannon! Sold in the original 3 -compartment bag and tube.
