Orvis - C.F. Orvis 125, 8' 3/2 6wt Impregnated Bamboo Rod

For sale here is a C.F. Orvis "125" 8' 3/2 6wt impregnated bamboo rod in very good used condition. #86462, made around 1984/85. The rod may be unfished but was stored in an unregulated environment which left a fair amount of patina on the nickel silver parts. I gently polished most of the nickel silver furniture (including the dirty male slide in the photos), although the next owner may wish to go further. Built on a medium toned impregnated blank with bright guides wrapped transparent tan windings wither darker brown tipping. All sections are straight, full length and serialized. The 10/64 & 16/64 ferrules fit perfectly. The chrome tip tops are slightly corroded and should be sanded down or replaced. All script remains clear and bold, and the original owner's name is inked on the butt. Strap & ring hook keeper, 6.5" cork grip (clean and smooth), and up-locking nickel silver reel seat over fine wood spacer. The Orvis logo is stamped in the screw collar. Scripted weight is 4 3/8oz but my scale reads just under 5oz. Medium fast action, rated as a 6wt but it casts a 5wt just fine. Ferrule plugs are present, but the cork has crumbled off the larger one and the smaller one isn't far behind. The "125" models were higher grade rods produced for Orvis' 125th anniversary starting in 1981. The number of rods produced was limited during the run and they don't turn up very often. This one shows its age due to how it was stored but remains essentially unused. Sold in the original tan print bag and leather clad aluminum tube with the original owner's initials on a brass plate.
