For sale here is an H.L. Leonard Model 40M-6, 8' 2-piece / 2-tip 6wt bamboo rod in excellent+ condition. Serial #235, made during Tom Maxwell's tenure at Leonard and all the script is in his hand. Golden straw-colored cane with "3-up" nodes, dark guides and carbide stripper wrapped in transparent tan windings with orange & oxblood accents. 14/64 ferrules are blued, and the fit is perfect. All sections are straight, full length & serialized. Handsome swelled butt with serial number under the hook keeper wraps. Blued NS winding check over 6.5" tapered grip (clean & smooth). Bright aluminum reel seat over curly maple spacer. The Leonard roll stamp is clear and crisp on the locking nut, and a similar roll stamp can be found on the brass tube collar. Weight is 4.55oz. Action on the medium side of medium fast, some may wish to speed it up with a WF5. A nice example of the fine work coming out of the Leonard shop under Tom Maxwell's guidance, sold in the original bag with stiffener and brass capped aluminum tube with custom tube protector.
