For sale here is an H.L. Leonard 7'6" 3-piece / 2-tip 3wt bamboo rod in excellent restored condition. No hang tag, but probably a Model 36 Catskill, the rod weighs 2.60oz on my scale. Expertly restored by Marty DeSapio, this dainty rod features English twist guides throughout, wrapped in crimson red silks with green accents. 13/64 and 9/64 ferrules fit perfectly, and the butt female ferrule is patent date stamped (as are the tip tops). All sections are straight and the full length. There is a very light node crack above the guide on the butt section. It appears surficial and the rod has clearly been fished without a clear wrap over it for some time; I would continue to do so without reservation. 4" cigar grip shows some soiling and slight ridging. Strap & ring hook keeper with nickel silver checks and cap & ring reel seat over pine spacer. The action is medium-slow and it feels like a true 3wt to me. These lightweight Leonard survivors are hard to find without a short tip. This one is right around 100 years old and ready for service. Sold in the original tube and bag (no tag).
