For sale here is a Gary Howells 8' 3 3/4oz 5wt, 2-piece / 2-tip bamboo rod. Serial #5411, made in 1987. Excellent+ condition, the rod appears to have been lawn cast only. Medium tempered cane with 2x2 node spacing, bright guides and carboloy stripping guide wrapped in mahogany windings with gold tipping. All sections are straight & full length, and the 13/64 ferrules fit perfectly. Strap & ring hook keeper, nickel silver winding check and 6" cork grip (clean & smooth). Standard Howell's screw lock reel seat over zebrawood spacer, it’s hard to say for sure if a reel was ever mounted on it. Gary's signature varnish work remains perfect. Scripted weight is 3 3/4oz, but my scale reads 3.92oz. Deep flexing, medium action, best with a DT5. Just a beautiful Howells rod, sold in the original bag and tube with intact data label.
