Hills, Bernard - 7'6" 3/2 1 1/2F (Heddon #60) Bamboo Rod

For sale here is a 7'6" 3-piece / 2-tip bamboo rod from Bernard & June Hills. Excellent original condition, this rod would be the equivalent of a Heddon model #60 Deluxe. Rated as a 1 1/2 ferrule for a 5/6wt, although it feels like more of a 4/5wt to me. The rod features medium tempered cane with resorcinol glue lines, dark snake guides & red agate stripping guide, all wrapped in golden yellow windings with black trim. The ferrules have a champagne gold hue, and the fit is perfect. All sections are straight and full length. The original owners name is scripted on the rod along with "Hills Custom Rods". The 6" walnut grip is hand carved with diamond check, and the rod is fitted with a classic Heddon-style downlocking reel seat over walnut spacer. Bernard Hills was foreman at the Heddon "Handmade" rod department, where all the higher end Heddon rods were produced. After Heddon closed its doors Bernard and his wife June continued to produce beautiful rods for a number of years. A smooth casting, medium fast action rod. I prefer it with a DT5. Sold in the original bag and leather clad tube, the straps of which have worn away.
