Hardy - Hollolight 7'6" 3/2 4-5wt Bamboo Rod

For sale here is a scarce Hardy Hollokona "Hollolight", 7'6" 3/2 4wt bamboo rod in excellent original condition. Hollow built construction, this rod is serial #H52840-C, indicating a custom order from 1963. This makes sense, as the 1963 Hardy's catalog does not list the Hollolight in a 7'6" configuration (the shortest is an 8'). Honey colored cane with bright guides and agatine stripping guide. Wraps are transparent gold with black tipping, the rod has full intermediate wraps. Blued ferrules fit perfectly and there is a very small gap between the welt of the female and the collar of the male ferrules when seated. This is more pronounced on the tip ferrules, and this is a rather common feature on Hardy split cane rods. All sections are straight and full length. Spiral writing on the butt section remains bold. Skeleton cork grip and reel seat with gold reel seat hardware. The cork is smooth with moderate soiling. Weight is just over 3oz. A buttery smooth 4wt, on the medium side of medium fast. Hardy's didn't have a great reputation for building the finest lightweight trout rods in the middle of the 20th century, so when a rod of this caliber ends up in your hands it's quite a delight. Sold in the original green zippered rod bag and an unlabeled tube.
