Halstead, G.H. - 8'9" 3/2 Bamboo Salmon Rod

For sale here is an 8'9" 3/2 bamboo salmon rod made by George Halstead. Medium tempered cane with 3x3 nodes, dark snake guides and Perfection stripper. Wraps are dark chestnut. The varnish is alligatored throughout, it appears to have softened at some point but has set back up. All the thread wraps have the same type of alligator cracking in the varnish. Ferrules fit perfectly and all sections are straight. One tip is scarfed between the ferrule and the first snake guide. Tip tops are wrapped for ease of rotation. 7" cork grip is soiled and slightly ridged, and the rod is fitted with a down-locking aluminum reel seat with fixed fighting butt. The butt section is ~1.5" longer than the other sections, and the rod appears to have been made this way. No markings on the rod but is has all the hallmarks of a Halstead rod, including his distinctive reel seat hardware. Weight is 7.73oz and it feels like it would handle a modern 9wt line. Sold in the original bag and what I believe is the original brass capped tube. From the collection of Thomas H. Clark.
