For sale here is an H.S. "Pinky" Gillum 9' 3-piece / 2-tip salmon rod in excellent original condition. Marked as a 6 1/2oz "Salmon" model on the label, although my scale reads 6 3/4oz. Dark honey colored cane with dark guides and carbide stripper. Wraps are caramel brown with light accents. Super-Z ferrules fit perfectly, and the bluing remains quite dark. All the ferrule wraps have cosmetic casting cracks, and all sections are straight, full length & serialized (I-824). 7.1" cork grip is lightly soiled and smooth except for some light ridging on the 5th ring down from the winding check. There is also a stable crack in the bottom cork ring, in-line with one side of the recessed hood. Standard Gillum up-locking reel seat with the maker's stamp on the collar. The butt cap removes to accept a 3.8" aluminum & hard rubber fighting butt. This appears to be Gillum's "Stagg Salmon" model, featuring a progressive medium-fast taper & lighter tips. A perfect single hand steelhead/salmon rod for casting dry lines. It casts a modern floating 8wt line with ease and incredible accuracy. The condition is superb; this rod has seen little use and was well cared for. Gillum rods of this quality are rather rare, don't let this one get away! Sold in the original bag and tube with perfect data label and the original tube protector with a slot for the fighting butt. From the collection of Thomas H. Clark.
