Sold Out
For sale here is a Dickerson 861711, 8'6" 3/2, 5-6wt bamboo rod. Excellent used condition, the varnish was buffed, and the rod was given an overcoat by Bob Summers in 2003 (although the hook keeper wraps look untouched). Medium tempered cane with bronzed snake guides and Perfection stripping guide. Wraps are the Dickerson light orange with black tipping. All sections are straight & full length. 17/64 & 11/64 ferrules fit perfectly, and Dickerson's script with the model number and build year (1947) is clean and bold on the butt sections. Bent loop hook keeper with hexagonal nickel silver winding check. 6" cork grip is smooth with light soiling, and the rod is fitted with the standard down-locking reel seat over walnut spacer. Weight is 5.03oz. Medium fast action, it will cast a WF5 but most will prefer it with a WF or DT6. Strong enough for long casts with larger flies, but it will handle short distances with precision. The 861711 is a storied taper and remains quite popular. This one is sold in the original fold over bag and brass capped tube. This rod also bears a Dickerson tube label showing the early Bewick Ave address, a rare and unusual feature.
