Brandin, Per - Model 866-2 'Tournament Trout Fly' 8'6" 6wt Quad Bamboo Rod

For sale here is a Per Brandin 8'6" 2-pc staggered ferrule quad 6wt in very good used condition. This is a hollow built tournament trout fly accuracy rod, one in a series of 5 rods made in 1992 in response to a challenge by renowned tournament caster John Napoli (this is #2/92). Featuring medium tempered cane, bright guides and carbide stripping guide wrapped in light brown windings with dark accents. All sections are straight and full length, and the blued ferrules fit perfectly. The "A" tip has 3 snake guides on the tip and the rest are single foots, the "B" tip has snake guides all the way up. Staggered ferrule design meaning the butt section is shorter than the tips, and the butt ferrule is fitted with an elongated bamboo ferrule plug to account for the length in the bag. 6.5" cork grip is soiled with just a hint of ridging. Down-locking aluminum screw lock reel seat over butternut spacer. Weight is 4.23oz. This rod was designed for Trout Fly casting events which involve dry fly, wet fly, and roll casting - no small feat. The result is a rod action that is somewhere on the faster side of medium fast but can still load under its own weight, especially in the middle of the rod and towards the tips. A beautiful tournament casting taper that is also the heigh of fishing performance. Sold in the original bag with stiffener and brass capped tube with canvas tube protector.
