Winston, R.L. - 9' 2/2 9-10wt (5 1/2oz) Bamboo Rod

For sale here is an R.L. Winston 9' 2/2, 5 1/2oz bamboo rod in very good used condition. Made for Karel Bauer whose photographs grace the pages of some early Winston catalogs. Medium tempered cane, hollow-fluted construction, putty colored wraps with red accents. Duronz ferrules fit perfectly. The sections are full length, and one tip has just a hint of a fish fighting set. The butt section and one tip have serial #9570, the other tip is #9582. Same ferrule size (18/64), and the dimensions of the tips appear to be identical. Measured weight is 5.70oz. Action on the medium side of medium fast when paired with the correct line. Winston rates this as a 9/10wt but a modern WF9F loads it nicely. The rod shows some signs of use (light grip soiling, a few small scratches to the varnish), but overall it remains in fine condition. Ready to chase steelhead, salmon, stripers, etc. Sold in the original 3-compartment bag and brass capped Winston tube. The old-school Winston decal is almost gone but you can still see bits and pieces of it.
