Winston - 6'6" 2pc 3-4wt Fiberglass Rod

For sale here is a scarce Winston 6'6" 2pc 3/4wt fiberglass rod. Made in San Francisco in the early 1970's, just prior to the move to Montana. This would be considered an early "Stalker" rod, although at 1 7/8oz it does not appear to be a cataloged model. Built on a sanded brown blank with bright snake guides and carbide stripper. Dark red silk windings with gray accents. Spigot ferrules fit perfectly with a gap to allow for wear. The butt section bears the Silver Cup Winston decal (now faded to gold with age), and the script on the butt is in Tom Morgan's handwriting. Skeleton cork grip & reel seat with aluminum hardware & black Bakelite winding check & butt cap. The cork is smooth with moderate soiling. Scripted weight is 1 7/8oz but my scale reads just under 1 3/4oz. A very pleasant caster, accurate with a DT3 but with plenty of soul. Maybe the lightest 6'6" glass rod Winston ever produced. Sold in what appears to be the original (unlabeled) red rod sock and Cal-Air tube with SF-era Winston label affixed.
