For sale here is a Payne 202, 8' 3/2 bamboo rod. Excellent condition, all original except for a reset mid-male ferrule and two small cork filler repairs in the grip. Beautifully toned cane with dark chestnut windings & gold tipping. Blued ferrules fit perfectly (15/64 & 10/64), and the ferrule plugs are intact. All sections are straight & full length. The ferrule windings have cosmetic casting cracks, and the varnish has a few small checks/scratches, consistent with age and use. Strap & ring hook keeper, 6" cork grip (clean & smooth with the aforementioned filler), and cap & ring reel seat over mahogany spacer. The real seat hardware has some notable bluing loss, and the butt cap retains the Payne roll stamp on one side and "Sold by VL&A - Chicago" on the reverse. Scripted and actual weight is 4 1/4oz. Action on the medium side of medium fast, I like it with a DT5 although some may prefer it with a 6wt line. A fine Payne trout rod, sold in the original bag with hangtag and brass capped tube (sans label).
