For sale here is an H.L. Leonard Model 51DF, 9' 3/2 bamboo rod in excellent condition. A pre-fire rod with medium tempered cane, English-twist bronze snake guides and agate stripping guide. Wraps are pale yellow with oxblood tipping. All sections are straight and full length, and the ferrules fit perfectly. Nicely swelled butt with strap & ring hook keeper. Nickel silver windings check over 5.5" cork grip (clean & smooth). Cap & ring reel seat over mortised wood spacer. The butt cap retains the Leonard stamp in cartouche with "Tournament" on the reverse. A medium action rod, best with a DT6 although some may prefer it with a 5wt. Stated & actual weight is 5 1/8oz. Sold in the original bag with well-preserved hang tag and brass capped tube. From the collection of Per G. Brandin.
