Sold Out
For sale here is an exceedingly rare 6' 2/2 4wt bamboo rod made by Harold S. "Pinky" Gillum. Excellent original condition. The rod features medium toned cane, 2x2 nodes and black windings with white accents (the white wraps have faded to a dull gold as the varnish has aged). Super-Z ferrules fit perfectly, and the bluing is in very good shape. The sections are full length & serialized (I-715), and both tips have very faint casting sweeps. Diminutive 4.75" grip is smooth with light soiling, and a few rings have small indentations from being stored against a guide. Bright aluminum cap & ring reel seat over African mahogany spacer. The Gillum roll stamp is crisp and clear on the butt cap, and the top of the spacer mortise has a small chip/ding (purely cosmetic). The varnish is in very good original condition although there are a few imperfections that you might expect from age and careful use. Weight is a lithe 2.00oz. Progressive, medium fast action. Delightful with a DT4, and some may even prefer it with a true-to-weight 5wt line. Very few of these light, 6' Gillums were made, and it's unlikely very many have survived in such spectacular condition. A rare offering indeed! Sold in the original bag & tube with partial label.
