Dickerson, Lyle - Model 961913-C, 9'6" 3/2 7wt Bamboo Fly Rod

For sale here is a Dickerson 961913, 3-piece 2-tip 9'6" 6oz bamboo rod for a 7wt line. This is a fairly early rod and a great example of the coarse threaded reel seat with one-piece walnut spacer extending through the pocketed sleeve, dating this rod to 1936-1937. The rod is in all original condition, and the compact black script reads "Dickerson 961913-C" indicating that it was made for a 7wt level line. The rod features oxidized hardware wrapped in brown thread with black tipping. Red agate stripping guide, strap & ring hook keeper and blued nickel silver winding check. 6" cigar cork grip has been cleaned. Labeled and actual weight is 6.0 oz. 19/64 and 13/64 ferrules are pinned and fit together tightly, but each ferrule is clicking slightly against the cane. The varnish shows some orange peel texture and has bag fuzzies throughout, but it looks like it would buff out nicely. It appears as though the varnish softened at some point but has since hardened back up. One tip has a 6" section of varnish loss around the 2nd snake guide, and that guide is missing one of it's tipping wraps. Overall this is a good example of an early Dickerson salmon/steelhead rod. This is a slightly beefier version of his more common model 961812. A nice rod to collect, or a good candidate for restoration. Sold in original fold over bag with model and weight written on the flap. Original tube is missing its cap.
