Aroner, Marc - Amherst 7' 3/2 4wt Bamboo Rod

For sale here is a Marc Aroner 'Amherst' 7' 3/2 4wt bamboo rod in mint condition. Built on a lightly flamed blank from the remains of the Amherst Rod Company and finished by Mr. Aroner in the early 1980's. The rod features dark snake guides and carbide stripping guide, dark bronze windings with gold tipping. Bright ferrules fit perfectly, and all sections are straight and full length. 5" grip is bright and smooth, and the rod is fitted with a cap & ring reel seat over fine wood spacer. The script on the butt is bold and clear and reads "Aroner 'Amherst' 7' #4 - Joe's Tackle". Weight is 3.60oz. Action on the faster side of medium fast, rated as a 4wt but it feels like it will handle a DT5 nicely. The Amherst rod company started in the late 40's and while they made nice rods the overall production numbers weren't very high. A cache of finished blanks made their way to Marc Aroner who finished them out beautifully. There aren't many "Aroner Amhersts" out there, and this is as fine an example as you are likely to find. Sold in what appears to be the original bag and tube, although the tube is about 4" longer than it needs to be.
