For sale here is a mint 8' 2/2 5wt bamboo rod from the bench of Japanese rod maker Shuichi Akimaru. Built of premium blonde Watake cane with 2x2 nodes, lightly oxidized guides and transparent brown windings with dark accents. Bright nickel silver ferrules fit perfectly, and the female is fitted with a bamboo and cork plug. All sections are straight & full length. 6" cork grip is smooth and clean, and the rod is fitted with a slide band reel seat over mortised burl spacer. Weight is 3.45oz. A wonderful dry fly rod, on the faster side of medium fast. The rod packs into the original bag and tube with Aki's label affixed. A beautiful rod from the master of Japanese rod making, offered here in as-new condition.
