Paul H. Young - 'Perfectionist' 7'6" 2/2, 4-5wt Bamboo Rod

For sale here is a Paul Young Perfectionist, 7'6" 2/2 4-5wt bamboo rod in excellent original condition. Serial #4649, made by Bob Summers around 1974/75. Darkly flamed cane with dark snake guides and carbide stripping guide wrapped in 541 Gudebrod transparent brown windings. The sections are straight, full length and serialized. Blued 14/64 ferrules fit perfectly. Bent loop hook keeper and all-cork grip & reel seat with dual slide bands. The cork is clean and smooth, and the slide bands remain quite dark. Script in Bob Summers' handwriting reads "A Paul H Young Co. Rod - Perfectionist 7'6" 2 1/2oz". Actual weight is 2.9oz, and the original owner's name is inked 1 flat above in a different script. Medium fast, parabolic action. This one feels like a true 4-5wt to me. A fantastic example of the Perfectionist taper in amazing, original condition. The satin bag is in nice shape with one small repair stitch on the butt compartment, and just the beginnings of a hole at the base of the middle compartment (not uncommon, these satin bags are prone to holes and deterioration). The rod and bag pack into the original Champion tube (aftermarket decal) and the rarely seen heavy fiber shipping tube with the original owner's name & address on the PHY shipping label.
